MetroLens Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 8, 2026

MetroLens is an iPhone app for viewing Washington Metro rail arrival information, station departures, service alerts, and a home screen widget. This policy explains what information the app uses and how it is handled.

Summary

Information Stored On Your Device

MetroLens stores a small amount of app preference data locally on your device so the app and widget can remember what to show. This includes:

This information is stored in the app's private device storage and, for the widget, in the app's iOS App Group storage. It is not used to identify you and is not sold. It is removed if you delete the app from your device.

Metro Data Requests

To show train arrivals and service alerts, MetroLens contacts the MetroLens API proxy hosted on Cloudflare. That proxy requests rail data from the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) API.

These requests may include the station code needed to retrieve arrival predictions. Like most internet services, Cloudflare may process standard technical information such as IP address, request time, user agent, and request URL for delivery, security, reliability, and abuse prevention. MetroLens does not use this information to build a personal profile, sell data, or track you across apps or websites.

Information We Do Not Collect

MetroLens does not ask for or collect:

Analytics, Advertising, And Tracking

MetroLens does not currently include third-party advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, or cross-app tracking. If this changes in the future, this policy and the App Store privacy details will be updated.

Data Sharing

MetroLens does not sell your information. MetroLens uses Cloudflare to host the API proxy and uses WMATA data sources to provide transit information. These services are used to operate the app's core functionality.

Data Retention

Local preferences remain on your device until you change them, clear app data, or delete the app. Technical request data processed by Cloudflare is handled according to Cloudflare's service configuration and policies.

Children's Privacy

MetroLens is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes To This Policy

This policy may be updated as MetroLens changes. The effective date above will be updated when material changes are made.
